In this Center on Media and Child Health, Mediatrician Michael Rich, MD, MPH encourages us to make “Mindful Media Use in the Month of May.” He explains that mindfully using media is an “understanding that media are tools that should be selected based on what they do well, used for their purpose, and then put away.”
According to Michael, families should prioritize essential activities, which will help them figure out where technology fits in their daily lives and choose media with a goal in mind. He goes on to say that once this activity with media is completed, the family should turn off the device and move on to the next activity.
