In her Brilliant Blog, Annie Murphy Paul asks if our technology is making us smarter, and then provides research evidence about tech tools that do and don’t. She explores everyday tech tools like calculators, auto-complete, texting, search engines, email and websites and concludes…”So does technology make us stupid, or smart? The answer is “both,” and the choice is up to us.” When we match the affordances of the tech tool with the specific task to be completed and with our own knowledge, skills and learning preferences, technology can make us smarter.
