This session brought together thought-leaders in the effective, appropriate and intentional use of technology and digital media in early childhood settings for conversations about best practices with new digital tools. Editor, Chip Donohue, was joined by Roberta Schomburg, Hedda Sharapan, Karen Nemeth and Ed Greene. Following opening remarks to set the context and introduce the big ideas, each panel member shared new tools, examples of best practice and implications for educators and teacher educators. They focused on three topics that were addressed in their chapters: technology tools for teacher preparation; technology tools to support social-emotional development; and, technology tools for language development and communication. The session was then opened up for conversations between the participants about experiences, concerns, success stories, lessons learned, practical tips, resources and reflections.
